in my opinion there are 2 key attributes to hitting a baseball: eye-hand coordination and timing. If you are a good athlete, you should be able to do it. Just start with 1/2 swings until you get the feel for the timing and build up to the full swing.
Its not terrible at all. An unexperienced player should be able to make contact at least.
60 mph is not fast at all you shouldnt have to much trouble
The reaction time is longer for a baseball at 60′ 6″ @ 60mph than it is trying to hit a fastpitch softball at a closer distance.
If anything, you’ll need to be more patient. The hitting mindset must be that of controlled aggression. But controlled agression must be tempered with patience. Be patient in zoning in on the release point hand position, fine centering-soft centering, and controlled while doing a tracking count on the pitch (yes, yes, yes, YES and yes, yes, yes, NO).
Find a system that teaches it, take it to heart, believe in it, and you will have success.
I copied the majority of the information from a professional hitting instructor’s baseball blog.
It depends on your age, strength, and reaction time. Once you get a feel for the first pitch at 60 you will have a great idea as to how much you need to adjust and go from there.
