Almost overnight, the Houston Astros have to being feeling great about their chances of getting back to the World Series.

Roger Clemens was back in the fold Wednesday, ending his post-retirement drama by signing with the Astros for another year. The 43-year-old, who won his seventh Cy Young Award in 2004 (18-4, 2.98 ERA), was 13-8 with a 1.87 ERA last year, winning the major league ERA title for the first time since 1990.

It also helped that the Astros rallied to beat NL Central-leading St. Louis Tuesday night, getting into their bullpen and rallying for a 6-3 win.The Astros are within shouting distance right now, and the return of Clemens will do a lot to re-energize this team.

Rallying against the strong St. Louis bullpen was also huge. Nothing is more of a confidence booster than coming back to steal a win on the road, especially when every game against the division really counts as two. The St. Louis bullpen has been great in May. Closer Jason Isringhausen saved 10 in a row, and the bullpen hadn't lost a game since May 2.

A game like that gives the Astros a boost and also puts a bit of doubt in the mind of the Cardinals. They aren't feeling as comfortable these days, with
injuries starting to mount. Center fielder Jim Edmonds hasn't started in four days because of a possible sports hernia, and ace Chris Carpenter is nursing a sore shoulder. He has missed two starts and is eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list on Sunday. He may start Monday or Tuesday, but the Cardinals are taking a wait-and-see approach.

"Get him back and keep him back,'' Manager Tony La Russa said. ""That's the goal.''

CUBS FEELING BETTER: Kerry Wood has his first win, and Mark Prior made a rehab start. That' has optimism on the rise again in Chicago, despite the dismal May the Cubs have had.

A brutal stretch where they went 6-24 has the boo-birds out, but the Cubs turn to Carlos Zambrano (3-2, 5.52 ERA) tonight as they go for a three-game
sweep of the Cincinnati Reds.

The Reds are struggling, having lost five of six. Zambrano (3-2, 5.52 ERA) has won three of his past four starts. On Friday, he allowed two runs and two hits and struck out eight in 6 2/3 innings but did not get a decision against Atlanta. Zambrano lost to the Reds on April 13, surrendering five runs in six innings, but he is pitching better lately and seems ready to turn his season around. This is the good spot for the Cubs tonight (Wagerweb.com game line: Cubs -165). They need another win before starting a 10-game road trip through St. Louis, Houston and Cincinnati.

PIRATES ROCKING, BREWERS REELING: The Pittsburgh Pirates have won four of five and scored in double figures three times during this hot streak. They play much better at home (14-12, as opposed to 4-18 on the road). Outfielder Jason Bay has been on fire, hitting .500 last week (13-for-26) with seven homers, 15 RBIs and 11 runs. Their 23 homers in the past 12 games are the most in the majors& nbsp;during that span.

Milwaukee starters Ben Sheets, Tomo Ohka and Rick Helling are all out, which explains why the Brewers can't get anyone out lately.

"You can use any excuse you want to be a failure," Milwaukee manager Ned Yost said. "We can sit back and say, 'Oh, woe is us. We don't have Ben or we don't have Tomo or we don't have Rick Helling.'

"Someone else needs to pick up the slack, and let's go. You can look at it any way you want to look at it, but those are the guys we've got and those are the guys we need to get the job done with. And they will," he said.

Roman is a resident of Boston, MA.

Yesterday we talk about John Daly’s golf style? today let’s attention his marriage.

In the summer of 1987, he married Dale Crafton. They divorced in Feb. 1990. In the summer of 1992, he married Bettye Fulford. They had a daughter Shynah Hale. In December 1992, Daly was charged with third-degree assault for throwing his second wife Bettye into a wall; although the actual circumstances of the incident, by all current accounts, indicate the charges were overstated and Bettye did not wish to pursue the matter. Daly has said in his autobiography that he did not, nor has he ever, hit or hurt a woman. He apologized for the incident, which has now been characterized more as "shoving" than "throwing", and entered an alcohol rehabilitation center and took time off from golf tournaments in early 1993.

He divorced Bettye at least in part because she turned out to be ten years older than she originally told him she was. In July 1995 he married Paulette Dean. They had a daughter, Sierra Lynn. They divorced in 1999. On July 29, 2001, he married Sherrie Miller. Their son John Patrick Daly II was born July 23, 2003.

On June 8, 2007, Daly and his fourth wife Sherrie got into a fight at a restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee, site of that week's tour stop, the Stanford St. Jude Championship. Daly claims that later that night his wife attacked him with a steak knife. He showed up for his 2nd round on Friday afternoon with cuts and scrapes across his face. Authorities were contacted by him and came to his house, but his wife had already fled the scene and taken their children with her.

Sherrie (at some point) pleaded guilty to federal drug charges and was sentenced to a five month prison term.

Daly's third ex-wife, Paulette Dean Daly, has now been linked to Baseball star Roger Clemens in an alleged affair during Clemens' marriage.

He changed his wife as he changed his golf brands Taylormade, callaway and so on.

The Caribbean islands is popular to scuba divers because its beaches are the finest destinations of this marine sport. The islands stretch of reef and are teemed with tropical fish. The walls drop from six to 6000 meters.

There are also caves and wrecks to explore, unleashing the adventurer in every scuba diver. Pinnacles, fumaroles, volcanic gases, sharks, dolphins - the list goes on an on.

In connection to this, tons of dive shops are situated in almost all of the islands so it is very easy to plan diving activities in the vicinity. If you aren't an experienced or licensed diver, you are only allowed to dive with trainers. As for those who have AOW cards, they can explore the open water dives in the Caribbean islands.

Popular Caribbean Islands for Scuba Diving:
1. Anguilla
One of the Caribbean's top destinations at the moment because of its astonishing beaches. It also has a slew of top-notch restaurants, luxurious and accommodating hotels and superb villas. It may be expensive because of its exclusivity but if you can afford it, why not?

2. Antigua
With its grandiose bays in between peninsulas, the 108 square miles mast of land rolls on a limestone base that is covered by reefs. It even has a little forest. It's not only popular for scuba diving, it is also the perfect location for sailing. It is home to the Antigua Race week, a famous sailing regatta.

By Clare Lawrence 13th August 2004

Ever wonder why DNS systems came into existence? Efficiency. Every computer has a distinct IP address, and the Internet needed an elite method for obtaining these addresses and for managing the system as a whole. Enter ICANN.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Number manages the DNS root of the Internet domain namespace. ICANN's role is to manage the assignment of identifiers, ensuring that all users have unique names.

The DNS system is run by a series of servers called DNS servers. ICANN manages the root DNS domains, under which are the top-level domains.

It also manages:

Organizational domains

Geographical domains

Reverse domains

Beneath the top-level domains are other naming authorities such as Nominet, the UK's naming authority.

How does a DNS Query work?

The process occurs in two parts. Firstly, a name query begins at a client computer and is passed to DNS client service for resolution. When the query cannot be resolved locally, DNS servers are queried.

For example, when a web browser calls the fully qualified domain name www.discountdomainsuk.com, the request is passed on to the DNS client service to resolve the name by using locally cached information. If the query is held in the cache, then the process is complete.

If, however, the query cannot be answered locally, the DNS client service uses a server list (ordered in sequence) to query external DNS servers. When a DNS server receives a query, it first checks to see if it is authoritive for that domain name. If it is authoritive, it resolves the name, and the process is complete.

If the DNS server is unable to resolve the query, it in turns queries other DNS servers, using a process known as recursion. DNS servers make use of root hints to assist in locating DNS servers, which are able to provide the required result. In this way, DNS queries are minimised and the Internet is able to operate quickly and effectively.

A typical query may run as follows:

Client contacts Nameserver A looking for www.discountdomainsuk.com

Nameserver A checks its cache, but can't answer, so it queries a server authoritive for the Internet root.

The root server responds with a referral to a server authoritive for the .com domains.

NameserverA queries the the .com server and gets referred to the server authoritive for www.discountdomainsuk.com

Nameserver A queries this server and gets the IP address for www.discountdomainsuk.com.

Nameserver A replies to the client with the IP address.

Queries can return answers that are authoritive, positive, negative or referral in nature. In the event of a negative answer, another DNS server is queried.

Detagged Domains

By Clare Lawrence 29th September 2003

Clare is the CEO of Discount Domains Ltd a leading UK Domain name registration service

What is a DETAGGED domain name? We get asked this question regularly.

Only UK domain names can be detagged. A domain name that has been DETAGGED is no longer hosted on valid name servers.

What happens if there are no longer valid nameservers showing against a domain name?

If no valid name servers are showing this means that any services such e-mail or a web site will no longer work.

Who can DETAG a domain name?

Only a domain registration service or agent can DETAG a domain name. This happens if the relationship between domain name owner and agent expires, for example if the registration fee or renewal fee is not paid.

When are domain names detagged?

Domain names can be detagged at any point after registration. Detagging signifies the end of the relationship between the registration agent and the registrant.

It is not necessarily an indication of whether a domain name is paid for or not.

How can I tell if a domain name is DETAGGED?

You will probably notice that the email or web site associated with the domain name has stopped working.

You can check the status of any registration by doing a WHOIS look-up that will indicate that the domain name is DETAGGED.

How can DETAGGED domain name be retagged?

To restore a DETAGGED domain name, the registrant will need to pay a tag change fee of £15+VAT as of January 2004 to nominet via a registration service. Nominet charge a higher fee to deal direct with the owner.

Can I register a DETAGGED domain name?

A DETAGGED domain name is still registered to the original registrant, and it remains as such until it is either renewed by the current registrant, or it is cancelled. Once cancelled, it immediately becomes available for registration on a first-come, first-served basis.

How long does it take for a DETAGGED domain name to become available for registration?

Nominet contact the owner of each domain that is detagged and confirms if they wish to renew or allow each name to lapse.

If the domain is allowed to lapse then the domain name will be suspended after 21 days and then cancelled between 6-8 weeks after that.

For further information please visit Nominet http://www.nominet.org.uk .

'Get him back and keep him back,'' Manager Tony La Russa said. ''That's the goal.''

Their 23 homers in the past 12 games are the most in the majors%26 during that span.

Milwaukee starters Ben Sheets, Tomo Ohka and Rick Helling are all out, which explains why the Brewers can't get anyone out lately.

'You can use any excuse you want to be a failure,' Milwaukee manager Ned Yost said. 'We can sit back and say, 'Oh, woe is us. We don't have Ben or we don't have Tomo or we don't have Rick Helling.'

'Someone else needs to pick up the slack, and let's go. You can look at it any way you want to look at it, but those are the guys we've got and those are the guys we need to get the job done with. And they will,' he said.

Richard and Mayumi Heene were sentenced to jail this week. Ninety days for the husband, 20 days for the wife.

Our news cycle being what it is, you have probably already forgotten that the heinous Heenes are parents of the Balloon Boy, the 6-year-old who touched off an international story while safely hidden away in his attic.

Fitting that while the first decade of this century was dribbling away, the mendacious Eldrick "The Weasel" Woods (The Golfer Formerly Known as Tiger) was watching his marriage and his endorsement deals fall apart, the Heenes were preparing for jail, Bernie Madoff was already in jail and George W. Bush was as invisible as it is possible to be for a man who was president of the United States only 11 months ago.

Such is the unravelling of the Decade of Deception. Of fabrication, mendacity and untruth. Of Enron and Bernie Madoff, Earl Jones and Vincent Lacroix. Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens. And the filthy rich bankers of Wall St., who came up with a filthy lie – renamed toxic assets as "derivatives" and very nearly brought the global economy to its knees.

Richard Heene, small-time schemer, thought he had it figured out. The rationale was mind-bending: Come up with a sufficiently large hoax and he could get his family onto "reality" TV, which is a whopper of a lie in the first place.

Heene's problem? Too small a lie. To profit from this mendacious decade, you had to tell lies so large that the rest of the world had no choice but to swallow them. Fibs so all-encompassing that when your phony investment scheme begins to crumble, you are deemed too big to fail.

Like the lies told by Woods and his team of spin artists. When I wrote a column about Woods a week ago, I was stunned by the response - more than 300 emails and they're still trickling in.

Very few disagreed with my take on Woods as the sham of the decade, the man who was a huckster first and everything else second. Some condemned his womanizing, although, in truth, the women who have come forward so far don't constitute an unusual total for a professional athlete.

Many more were upset by the hypocrisy. This is a man whose billion-dollar earnings were built on endorsements first, with golf a distant second.

Woods was the greatest huckster of the decade because of his squeaky-clean image. It helped that people who play golf are well-heeled, but it was important that Woods seemed so perfect. Good-looking, multiracial, soft-spoken (except for the petulant tantrums), flawless in his personal life. And there was that 1,000-watt smile.

When it all came undone after wife Elin Nordegren took a golf club to his SUV, we discovered that Woods was perfectly in step with the decade of the big lie. He was not what he seemed, not remotely.

Which made him pretty much like everyone else – or at least those with money and power who spent the past 10 years acquiring more money and more power, mostly by piling one lie atop another.

Weapons of mass destruction? There were none – but the Bush administration kept lying about them all the way to Baghdad. Nearly seven years later, President Barack Obama is still trying to disentangle the United States from a mess that has cost the lives of almost 5,000 coalition soldiers and tens of thousands of Iraqis.

Enron? To this day, no one knows what it was that Enron really did, other than siphon money into the pockets of its top executives. Yet (as Frank Rich pointed out in the New York Times last weekend) the editors of Fortune Magazine voted Enron the most innovative company in the United States six years running.

Enron was a shell of a company. There was no there there. The company produced nothing, owned nothing, accomplished nothing except to bring the state of California to the brink of bankruptcy.

How many of the biggest names in sports in the past decade were phony as three-dollar bills? Barry Bonds, Marion Jones, Roger Clemens, Mark McGwire, Manny Ramirez. Now Woods himself has been linked to Anthony Galea, a Canadian physician who uses and dispenses HGH – human growth hormone.

A coincidence? If there is one thing we have learned from the past decade, it's that where there is smoke, there is fire.

Lies aren't birthed in a vacuum. Liars thrive because they fill a need, because people want to believe.

Bernie Madoff, the biggest swindler of the decade, did it by feeding people what they want. Investors want to believe they can get a 20-per-cent return on their dollar, year after year. Golf fans wanted to believe that Tiger Woods was perfect. Home-owners wanted to believe that housing prices would go up forever.

And far too many in this country, as well as south of the border, want to believe that a television network that labels itself as a news outlet is really delivering news. But as soon as you say "Fox News," you have already told the first lie. "Fox Propaganda" would be more accurate.

Like most big-time lying, the distortions at Fox are backed by massive corporate money. Money is where the lies begin and it works in insidious ways. The BlackBerry ad uses the Beatles tune All You Need Is Love to push a message exactly the opposite of the one the Beatles intended. If love is all you need, then why do you need a BlackBerry?

Unfortunately, the lying will go on because the rewards are great, real punishment rare. Just this week,

Peter Hadekel pointed out in these pages the inadequacy of the fines levied on a group of Canadian banks and investment dealers who sold $32 billion worth of toxic asset-backed commercial paper. The fines totalled $138.8 million, a fraction of the worth of "assets" that weren't assets at all.

At the beginning of this decade, I wondered aloud what we were going to call the first 10 years of the new millennium. The Aughts? Naughts? Zips? Nothings? After 10 years of systematic, percolating, corrosive lies, the appellation is simple. The only name that fits the past decade is the Zeros.

Soon we will face the Teens. And the first thing we can look for is the slick, carefully orchestrated "rehabilitation" of Weasel Woods (including the obligatory weepy appearance on Oprah), a public remake for which his millions of lobotomized fans are audibly panting – to be followed by a brand-new, global Nike campaign.

Bud Selig made the right decision. When I first learned that Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Gallaraga was denied a perfect game because of a blatantly errant call by umpire Jim Joyce, I immediately felt that the MLB Commissioner should overturn the mistake. But after listening to the arguments of those who felt otherwise, and remembering Game 6 of the 1985 World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals, I realized that Selig made the right move. In the 1985 World Series, the Cardinals were ahead 3-2 in games and leading 1-0 in the ninth inning of Game 6 when Royals utility player Jorge Orta hit a ground ball to 1B Jack Clark. Clark made the play and tossed it to pitcher Todd Worrell, who arrived at the first base bag in plenty of time. However, umpire Don Denkinger mistakenly called Orta safe. The Royals eventually scored two runs in that inning to win the game 2-1, and then destroyed the Cardinals in Game 7 (11-0) to win the Series. No change was ever made to correct Denkinger's error, even though the gaffe influenced the outcome of the World Series. Gallaraga's incident was unfortunate, but it doesn't take precedence over a World Series game . . .

No, I do not want to see instant replay in baseball. Mistakes happen. It's part of the game. Plus, baseball games are too long already. I don't want them slowed further . . .

Look for Miguel Cotto to shine Saturday and stop Yuri Foreman by the eighth or ninth round. Foreman is undefeated and will come to fight, but his resume is bereft of top-caliber competition. He deserves credit for wresting the WBA jr. middleweight championship belt from defending champion Daniel Santos in November, but he has yet to face anyone as talented or as strong as Cotto. Granted the punishment Cotto has experienced over the past few years has left him damaged, but he still has enough left to convincingly beat Foreman . . .

Michael Grant's trainer, former world champion Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, is convinced (or so he says) that his fighter will defeat Tomas Adamek on Aug 21 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Muhammad trained the only fighter to defeat Adamek--Chad Dawson. Fightnews.com quotes Muhammad predicting, 'You can write that Main Events and Adamek's manager just committed a grave error. The size and strength difference will be too much for Adamek to overcome. Arreola is not 6-7 with extremely long arms, but Michael is. Adamek will have to risk too much shortening the distance because this is the only way he can hit Michael.' Sorry, Eddie, but I don't see it. Grant hasn't beaten a credible heavyweight since 1999 when he stopped Andrew Golota. Adamek will chop down Grant as if he were a redwood . . .

The Oakland A's finally discovered how to defeat the Boston Red Sox: hit four home runs . . .

How happy are the Orioles to be leaving Yankee Stadium? . . .

Add NY Jets CB Darrelle Revis to the list of NFL players skipping their teams' OTAs (Organized Team Activities) over contractual issues. NFL.com reports that because of the lack of progress in contract negotiations, Revis' absence from the team 'could be lengthy' . . . Maybe the Jets should cough-up some of the revenue they're expecting from hosting the 2014 Super Bowl . . .

According to the Boston Globe Josh Beckett's return from the DL is 'at least a month away' . . .

Yankees 2B Robinson Cano is now leading the majors in hitting (.373) . . .

Who cares whether President Obama thinks LeBron James should re-sign with the Cavaliers? What's next? Hillary Clinton's views on the state of the Cubs? . . .

Is Jose Canseco testifying on Roger Clemens behalf supposed to help Clemens or bury him? . . .

The new Dr. Pepper commercial featuring Michael Strahan and Donovan McNabb is pretty funny . . .

I can't imagine Alex Rodriguez is enjoying himself very much right now. Although the Yankees pounded out 15 hits last night to punish the Orioles 12-7, the Yankee 3B went 0 for 5. It's a frustrating feeling watching your teammates pile on the hits while you prove incapable of getting on base even once. It may have only been Little League in my case, but I did experience that feeling once before. My team won 25-3, but I was 0 for 3. I wanted to be happy that my team won, but I couldn't shake my disappointment with my own performance. It wasn't long after that I started pressing at the plate, which is something Rodriguez is already doing . . .

Yankees reliever Chad Gaudin's nickname should be 'Hanging' because that is what most of his pitches do. Yesterday he was rocked for five hits and four runs in just two innings of work . . .

14 strikeouts in seven innings pitched, and a fastball that reached 100 m.p.h. more than once. I would say that Stephen Strasburg's introduction to the 'Big Leagues' was successful . . .

The Red Sox continue to win. Last night in Boston's 3-2 win over the Indians, Tim Wakefield threw 7 1/3 innings to propel himself past Roger Clemens into first place for the most innings pitched in Red Sox history. Wakefield has now pitched 2,777 innings in a Red Sox uniform, one more than Clemens . . .

We haven't reached Father's Day yet and the Orioles are already 22 games out of first place . . .

However, the O's can find solace in that their -112 run differential is not the worst in baseball. That 'accomplishment' is held by the Pittsburgh Pirates (-136) . . .

The Phillies scored 10 runs yesterday against the Marlins. Lately 10 runs is a week's worth of production for the defending NL Champions . . .

The Mets winning ways at Citi Field continue. Last night they won their ninth straight home game when Ike Davis hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 11th inning to beat the San Diego Padres 2-1 . . .

Mike Pelfrey earned his eighth win of the season, which puts him in a tie for second place with about 40 other pitchers for 'Most Wins' in MLB . . .

Toronto has hit the most homers in the majors (97), while Seattle has hit the fewest (33) . . .

The San Diego Padres are the only team in baseball whose staff ERA is under 3.00 (2.99) . . . Arizona's ERA is 5.50 and opposing clubs are batting .286 against them. The only pitching staff with a worse 'Batting Average Against' percentage is the Milwaukee Brewers (.288) . . .

According to ESPN.com Dallas Cowboys RB Marion Barber played the last 13 weeks of the 2009 season with a torn quad muscle. Barber is a punishing running back who enjoys steamrolling defenders as much as eluding them, so the toughness he displayed in playing with a severe injury is no surprise. I just hope his sacrifice for the team doesn't result in a shortened playing career. I have yet to see an NFL franchise reward a player for his willingness to play through injury. Those players are just as likely to be unceremoniously released when they no longer perform at the same level . . .

Here's an interesting NFL.com poll question. ' Which 30-and-over running back will have a better 2010 season?' The choices are Larry Johnson, Chester Taylor, LaDainian Tomlinson, Brian Westbrook, and Ricky Williams. Of the 57,226 respondents, 36% selected Ricky Williams. Tomlinson finished second with 32% . . .

The NY Jets' 27-acre complex in Florham Park, NJ is featured in the June 2010 issue of Inc magazine . . .

Tell me this isn't an endorsement commercial just waiting to be filmed. Seahawks WR Golden Tate was nearly arrested on Saturday after being 'caught trespassing in a Top Pot doughnut shop at 3 a.m.' Tate was hungry and was looking for a late-night snack , so he allegedly snuck into the shop to swipe a few donuts. When he was asked why, he profusely apologized and confessed that the donuts are 'irresistible' . . .

Braves visited Citizens Bank Park

The last time the Braves visited Citizens Bank Park, they left with a six-game lead and complete control of the N.L. East. That was in early July, though, and the Braves' goal with this trip to Philadelphia—for a three-game set that opens Monday—is to stay within shouting distance of the Phillies wholesale nfl jerseys 'I don't think Roy, and this is not to slight him at all, but I don't think he makes a very good lone No. 1. If you put somebody on the staff, like a Halladay that is a No. 1, and you put Roy with him, Roy pitches harder to try and outdo Halladay. I think he does better that way. Halladay can be a No. 1 that's a standalone, and he can have other guys that he can pick them up. I don't think Roy does that as well. But if you put Roy with a Halladay and Cole Hamels, he will actually pitch a whole lot better because he wants to pitch better than them.

'What happened in '05 when we went to the World Series was we had Roy and we had Rocket (Roger Clemens) and we had (Andy) Pettitte. Well, those are three No. 1s if there ever were 1s NFL jerseys wholesale. The truth of the matter is that Roy was my No. 1, but he fought more to outdo Clemens and Pettitte than he did to say ‘I'm the No. 1.' Does that make sense? Competition within the staff is better for Roy than Roy being the lone No. 1. He pitches better when there's more competition among the staff.

MLB Weekly Capsule

5/10-5/16

Author: Matt Gerwitz

http://www.BaseballDailyNews.com, U. S. Sports Media, Inc

The steroid issue once again reared its ugly head this week with Roger Clemens making a Tuesday appearance on ESPN Radio's Mike and Mike in the Morning, and Manny Ramirez addressing his Dodgers teammates on Friday afternoon. In a time when at least eight of baseball's greatest modern-era batters have been linked to performance enhancing drugs, Major League Baseball is hoping to put this issue aside as quickly as possible. It doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon.

Clemens asked for the radio interview in anticipation of the release of a new "tell-all" book slated to be released the same day. "American Icon: The Fall of Roger Clemens and the Rise of Steroids in America's Pastime", written by a handful of reporters from the New York Daily Times contains evidence and allegations of drug use that Clemens flatly denies. At one point the troubled pitcher referenced heart disease in his family that provided motivation for him to stay away from illegal substances. Those remarks were misrepresented and taken the wrong according to Clemens, who issued a statement the following morning to correct any misconceptions.

Friday's visit by Manny Ramirez to the Dodgers club was arranged so the team's most popular player could apologize to his teammates for what he described in an earlier statement as taking medication prescribed to him by his doctor. The meeting lasted no more than ten minutes according to those present, and the team has refused to divulge any details of what was said. L.A. Manager Joe Torre stated that Ramirez "...basically went around, shook everybody's hand. I think guys were happy to see him. I think there was a little uneasiness on both sides." Ramirez is scheduled to return to the Dodgers' lineup in early July.

MINNESOTA (5/14) - The Minnesota Twins completed a three-game sweep of the Detroit Tigers on Thursday night, improving their record to 18-18. The Twins were projected to be one of the hottest teams going into spring training, yet they find themselves struggling to stay above .500 . Winning 6-2, 14-10 and 6-5, the Twins are remaining respectable at the plate, ranking 15th in runs scored and 11 in total hits. Right fielder Denard Span and first baseman Justin Morneau continue to be the team's two most consistent hitters and run producers.

ATLANTA (5/16) - The Arizona Diamondbacks aren't winning a lot of games this year as they sit at the bottom of the NL West, already 11 games out of first place. But Saturday night the boys from the desert came alive in Atlanta, producing twelve runs on eleven hits to shut out the Braves at Turner Field. The victory was new manager A.J. Hinch's second on the year, and the first Major League win for righty Max Scherzer. In a losing effort Atlanta pitcher Kenshin Kawakami went 5 innings allowing five hits and three runs, walking one and striking out four.

SEATTLE (5/16) - After being placed on the 15-day disabled list prior to Wednesday's game against the Angels, Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis got some much-needed rest before flying back to Boston on Saturday. Youkilis sustained an injury to his left arm after being struck twice by the pitcher in a May 4th game against the Yankees. The Bosox are sending him to Pawtucket for a two-day rehab on Monday and Tuesday, and hope to have him back with the team when they play Toronto on Wednesday. He will be eligible to return then since his DL designation was retroactive to May 5th.

Wagerweb.com has posted odds offering bettors the chance to predict which Major League Baseball team Roger Clemens will return to. Clemens is clearly enjoying the attention he is garnering from his four suitors. Let's take a look at how Clemens has played this situation thus far, and how it will play out at the end.

THE EASY MARK:

Roger Clemens enjoyed opening day in Arlington Stadium, sitting next to owner Tom Hicks. When Clemens was introduced and shown on the scoreboard, the fans went crazy. Do the Rangers, who have gone all these years searching for pitching, really have a shot at Roger Clemens? Well, the Rangers are an improved team, with Kevin Millwood leading some young up-and-coming pitchers. And it would do wonders for Clemens' legend to ride into Arlington on his horse and lead them to their first World Series. Is it going to happen? No. Why would Clemens pitch in a hitter's park for a team which, despite their improvements, is not a serious World Series contender? More likely, Roger was paying attention when Tom Hicks bid against himself to sign Alex Rodriguez to his franchise-crippling $250 million dollar contract. This is exactly the type of guy you want to draw into the bidding. Wagerweb.com has the odds on Clemens going to the Rangers at 6-1. Trust me, it's far longer than that.

AN OFFER HE CAN'T REFUSE:

Roger Clemens still keeps in touch with buddies Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada, and there were reports that Jeter had his ear during the World Baseball Classic. And if Clemens is looking for a sure bet to get to the playoffs, it's been a while since the Yanks sat out October. Can Clemens return to the Yankees? Probably not. Roger Clemens already got a Hummer as a retirement gift, and you have to figure, after feasting on weaker National League number eight hitters, and pitchers' feeble attempts to catch up to his fastball, he might not be dying to face more formidable American League lineups. If Randy Johnson keeps looking his age, can George Steinbrenner make Roger Clemens an offer he can't refuse? Could happen, but George will never let Clemens skip road trips in fear that all of his stable of superstars will demand the same special treatment. At 1:2, this is not a good bet.

FINISH WHERE HE STARTED

Imagine the nostalgic feeling of coming back where you began your career, and leading that team to a World Series. What a perfect symmetry to a career. Almost like a movie script. Only the impact of leading the Red Sox to a World Series is not nearly what it was two years ago. The Red Sox already have had a hero who started in their organization come back and lead them to the Promised Land. And that hero wore a bloody Red Sock. How can Clemens possibly top that? Besides, if the Red Sox really get close, Mr. Steinbrenner may very well make him an offer he can't refuse. At 1:1, I just can't see this as a good bet.

FINISH WHAT HE STARTED

The first year, Clemens led the Astros to the playoffs. His second year, he helped them to their first World Series. Why not finish what he started? The Astros are off to a great start. Besides, the Mets, Cardinals and, possibly the Phillies, who can you remotely predict can stop them from at least getting there? His best friend Andy Pettitte has mentioned the possibility of retirement after this year (Don't bet on that, though). Houston offers him a chance to stay close to home and it lets him skip those pesky road trips. They have already made him a generous contract offer. The odds are 2:1.

After all that analysis, it must come down to this: If you could work closer to home, travel less, and not have to work as hard, for similar money, what would you do? Come on, this may be Roger Clemens, but it is not rocket science. Bet the 2:1 on him returning to the Astros. It may be the best bet available on the entire website.

Braves visited Citizens Bank Park and Yankees faces hard challenges

The last time the Braves visited Citizens Bank Park, they left with a six-game lead and complete control of the N.L. East. That was in early July, though, and the Braves' goal with this trip to Philadelphia—for a three-game set that opens Monday—is to stay within shouting distance of the Phillies wholesale nfl jerseys

'I don't think Roy, and this is not to slight him at all, but I don't think he makes a very good lone No.

1s if there ever were 1s

Dan Johnson, the Rays' hero in their 4-3 victory over the Yankees on Wednesday night, called the three-game series 'as close to a playoff atmosphere as you can get without actually being in the playoffs.' And just think: The playoffs don't begin for 20 days. The first-place Rays, meanwhile, are 31 games over.500 but still have 17 games left to hold off the Yankees. Both clubs should enjoy their day off today because the playoff-like atmosphere isn't expected to lessen anytime soon. Well, except for the Rangers and Twins. Sizing up the rest of the season for the A.L.'s playoff hopefuls. They headed home in second place after a 1-5 road trip.

Fitting that while the first decade of this century was dribbling away, the mendacious Eldrick 'The Weasel' Woods (The Golfer Formerly Known as Tiger) was watching his marriage and his endorsement deals fall apart, the Heenes were preparing for jail, Bernie Madoff was already in jail and George W.

And the filthy rich bankers of Wall St., who came up with a filthy lie – renamed toxic assets as 'derivatives' and very nearly brought the global economy to its knees.

Richard Heene, small-time schemer, thought he had it figured out. The rationale was mind-bending: Come up with a sufficiently large hoax and he could get his family onto 'reality' TV, which is a whopper of a lie in the first place.

But as soon as you say 'Fox News,' you have already told the first lie. 'Fox Propaganda' would be more accurate.

The fines totalled $138.8 million, a fraction of the worth of 'assets' that weren't assets at all.

And the first thing we can look for is the slick, carefully orchestrated 'rehabilitation' of Weasel Woods (including the obligatory weepy appearance on Oprah), a public remake for which his millions of lobotomized fans are audibly panting – to be followed by a brand-new, global Nike campaign.

Last week we heard that Manny Ramierez, the LA Dodgers home run slugger, has been suspended for 50 games for using a banned substance. Manny used HCG - a women's fertility drug. This drug is often used by steriod abusers to counteract the effects of reduced testoterone when they end a steriod use cycle.

On this site, we love technology and improvement, and think athletes should use whatever is legally available as a performance enhancement. We discuss how the video analysis of performance allows athletes and coaches alike to critically review their efforts and develop techniques and/or training drills to improve.

We also believe athletes should get natural, legal supplements to enhance performance. Getting the correct nourishment is important for optimum performance, recovery, and injury prevention. Remaining hydrated, having enough energy to train and perform are all important and may require legal supplements.

Although it is difficult to decide where to draw the line on performance enhancement supplements, it needs to be done. We can be extremely vigilant and ban substances such as Gatorade or vitamins; or we can be completely lax and allow anything. For now, the sporting bodies are drawing the lines; and as long as dangerous drugs are banned while those proven safe or natural are legal, these guidelines make sense. So what do we do with the athletes who cross the line and get caught?

Manny is not alone in the baseball world; Alex Rodriguez, Roger Clemens, Jose Canseco and Barry Bonds have all been caught out for using banned substances. Some of them claim they did not take steroids, but what should not be up for debate is their punishment. We believe a lifelong ban is the only punishment that will work. 50 games, 100 games, 1 season or 2 season bans do not send the correct message. Not even large financial fines and docked pay will solve the problem of drug cheats in sport.

You may have a different opinion but here is our logic. A gifted young AAA baseball player sees the likes of Manny Ramirez succeeding and securing a large million dollar contract, and he aspires to perform just like him. The young player trains hard and is dedicated but he can't break into the major leagues (maybe he is too small, takes too long to recover...). He knows his idol has been taking performance enhancing drugs and weighs his options. If he takes the steriods he will be able to train harder and recover from injury and fatigue faster. He will have a better chance to break into the Major Leagues. If he gets caught, he loses a few million dollars but he will still have a contract worth many millions more. He will be suspended for a number of games but will know that it is not the end of his career. Well worth the risk in our opinion and in his, as well.
Now if the punishment was a ban from competitive baseball and the complete loss of any contract, would the young player have the same inclination? It is unlikely he would give up his current playing contract and enjoyment of the sport to make it into the Majors with steriods when the punishment for being caught is an outright ban.

The reason we love to watch sport and great performances is to wonder how another human could do something so spectacular, when we cannot. If we suspect that the player's performance is steriod powered, we don't get that same thrill.

Thanks for reading our rant. Next time we will get back to video analysis. We will continue to show you how to get a legal boost in your performance by analyzing motion with a video camera.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens, also known as Mark Twain, was born in Florida on 30th November 1835. Out of seven children, he was the sixth one. He is not only known for his writing but also was a famous journalist and humor. He is known to produce magical writing which attracted worldwide audience and earned him as being a famous writer. Till today Twain is remember greatly and his work read by many.

Twain made a lot of money through his writings. Some of his famous workings were The Gilded Age, Life on the Mississippi, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, A Tramp Abroad, The Prince and the Pauper, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, and Huckleberry Finn. A large portion of this money was lost due to bad investments. These investments were mainly due to investments in new technologies especially the Paige typesetting machine. It was an engineered mechanical device that was known to amaze the viewers when working. The problem with this device was that it was prone to a lot of breakdowns and so Mark Twain spent a huge sum of $300,000 on the device. Before the device was perfected, the device was replaced by Linotype in the market. Due to this, Mark Twain lost a huge portion of profits made by his books as well as large portion of money inherited from his wife Livy.

Mark Twain was very much fascinated with the science. He developed strong friendship with Nikola Tesla. He along with Tesla spent a lot of time in Tesla’s laboratory. Twain is said to have invented a new steam engine type, Kaolatype and infants bed clamp.

Another source of Twain’s financial trouble was publishing house. He also lost a huge portion of money through the publishing house. The publishing house enjoyed a lot of initial success by selling Ulysses S. Grant memories. Soon after this initial success, the publishing house broke and lost a lot of money. This was because of the idea that similar to selling memories of Ulysses S. Grant. It was thought that the public would now be interested and buy the biography of Pope Leo XIII. The idea was back fired and only less than hundreds copies sold.

To recover financially, Mark Twain started delivering lectures along with his writings. Along with his new friend he recovered financially. The lost lasting friendship in 1893 with Henry Huttleston Rogers, a financier, who was the Standard Oil’s principal. The recovery process began with Henry asking Twain to file for the bankruptcy. After this he asked Twain to his written works’ copyrights to his wife. This prevented the creditors from getting possession of his works. Then, Rogers went on to take charge of Twain’s money completely till all creditors were paid.

Finally, to completely pay off all creditors, Twain went on to deliver lectures worldwide, despite the fact that Twain was not under any legal obligations. In 1900, Twain then returned back to America after he had earned enough for paying off his financial debts.
