Yeah, and, unfortunately, when the Braves moved to Atlanta, they had no guarantee any of the major hotels in Atlanta would allow a "Negro" to stay in their rooms.
William S. Eberly, who was the business mgr of the Milwaukee Braves, refused to move with the team because he was told the Atlanta "white" hotels would NOT accept any Negroes even if they were HANK AARON. HOORAY FOR YOU, Bill Eberly, you were a great man. Oh, Hank Aaron was not good enough for Atlanta? What a crock of crap.
Great team…
Hi, I’m an admin for a group called La Belle Epoque ca.1890 – ca.1914 incl. ArtDeco and ArtNouveau, and we’d love to have this added to the group!
Does the Library of Congress intend to save comments posted in the comments section on various items posted in this photostream? For instance will the comments be archived as being historically relevent? When somebody posts a comment to one of these photos doesn’t that comment also become a part of the historical record and shouldn’t the comments be saved for future posterity? Also, concerning the other various U.S. government entities who are also utilizing Flickr, will those comments on say the Official Whitehouse Photostream be filed away for historical documentation? What system does the Library of Congress have in place to save and document various discussions on a U.S. Government sponsored disccussion board?
The Library of Congress currently downloads a copy of all comments made to our Flickr account. We are not aware of the practice of other agencies.
