Griffey epitomized the quintessential baseball player. He could run, he could catch, he could throw, and boy… could he swing a bat. I was born in ’88 and modeled a great deal of my game after him, his hustle, his sportsmanship, his plate approach, God, I even stole his little bat wiggle (and the swagger that came along with it.) If ever there were a greater player, I’d be hard-pressed to find one. Here’s to you Griffey you made me a better player, and in doing so, a better man. I’ll miss you.

I’ve watched this video a dozen times…. I tear up everytime. Baseball is what held me and my brothers relationship as kids together…. and it was Griffey in the center of all of it. He will be missed in Seattle!! Can’t wait until he gets to Cooperstown!

I shed a tear watching this. The sweetest swing in baseball will no doubt be a first ballot Hall of Famer. Junior did it the right way, and we can only imagine what the numbers would be like without the injuries.
