In many ways, the rich 120-year history of the Louisville Slugger baseball bat began in the talented hands of 17-year-old John A. "Bud" Hillerich. Bud's father, J.F. I have always wondered how an outfielder can throw a baseball from mid-field all the way to home plate without hitting the cut-off man.

My friend and I have a bet. My theory is that some foul balls in baseball actually gain speed when leaving the bat. His theory is that after the moment of impact, the ball will slow down. Anyone have an opinion?
